Training for municipalities

In Latvia Ekodoma organized 13 capacity building sessions for Local Authorities, building capacity of around 280 participants. These sessions involved 7 with the 50000&1 SEAPs project new municipalities, namely: Saldus, Salaspils, Liepāja, Jūrmala, Ventspils, Alūksne and Ķegums, since September 2015.
These municipalities participated in one or both events organised by Ekodoma in cooperation with another local initiatives. Two round tables took place in city of Liepāja on 9 September 2015 and on 30 March 2016 in Jūrmala. Ekodoma participated and presented the 50000&1 SEAPs project in four national workshops organised by Ministry of Economics. Moreover, in the training in Vidzeme Planning Region representative of the municipality of Cēsis Inta Ādamsone participated with the presentation of their achievements in 50000&1SEAPs (http://www.energoplanosana.lv/a:file/f:dTV3M3pyVVFDdCt4SzF4aDVtRW5oQT09).
In total in these trainings representatives of 36 different municipalities participated. On 12 May 2016 national conference “Energy potential today and tomorrow” was organised where one of the project partners – municipality of Ādaži presented their achievements in 50000&1SEAPs. In the second half of 2016, 2 energy forums in Cēsis and Sigulda were organized (with 51 attendees altogether). National training about EMS implementation in municipalities was organized on February 15 in Riga with 16 municipality representatives and energy managers participating.
Based on initial activities and general approach of 50000&1 project, Ekodoma also attracted additional funding for training on energy and climate in other municipalities. Based on the results from the city of Daugavpils, Ekodoma prepared and submitted a case study and application to Clean Energy Ministerial Award.

  • 50000&1 SEAPs methodology (EnMS+SEAPs)
  • Setting up an EnMS: what steps to take and what are the benefits
  • National legislation and obligation for municipalities and cities to implement an EnMS
  • Why your city needs and energy manager and energy manager's responsabilities
  • Data collection and analysis- challenges and solutions with a special focus on municipal buildings

National trainings

In Latvia Ekodoma partners organized organised two capacity national training and dissemination events, building capacity of 56 participants.

  • National legislation and obligation for municipalities and cities to implement an EnMS
  • Climate change and EnMS – challenges and opportunities
  • Why your city needs and energy manager and energy manager’s responsibilities
  • Importance of data collection and analysis in the municipality
