Workshop

Bridging the gap: sustainable energy actions from planning to implementation

Brussels, Belgium
The Final Conference of Mayors in Action and BEAST projects took place in Brussels (Belgium), on 8 February 2017. The Intelligent Energy Europe funded projects Mayors in Action and Beast shared their insights with the aim of providing ideas on how to bridge the gap between planning and implementing a wide range of sustainable energy actions.

The event brought together policy makers and technical staff from local and regional governments, signatories of the Covenant of Mayors, Covenant Supporters and Coordinators, energy agencies, business sector and energy stakeholders. In addition to a great line-up of speakers and experts the free one-day workshop provided an opportunity to exchange and discuss about sustainable energy actions and replication possibilities.

The free one-day workshop featured a round of speed presentations to look at financing and implementing sustainable energy actions, followed by an interactive panel discussion. A “matchmaking lunch”, in which expert hosts facilitated the networking among participants in a series of topical roundtables, concluded the event.

Webinar

Implementation of Integrated Energy Management and Sustainable Action Plans

Focus on Monitoring

The 50000&1 SEAPs project provides a coherent approach to integrating Energy Management Systems (EnMS) with Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) according to energy management standard such as ISO 50001and European Energy Award, as quality management certification system for municipalities committed to sustainable energy planning.

It aims to help municipalities overcome the barriers blocking institutionalisation of their action plans and reinforce internal structures and procedures for high-quality, long-term, energy policy and planning. This ensures that sustainable approaches to local energy policy and planning are spread and strengthened further across Europe.

This webinar will discuss how to implement and monitor actions integrating Energy Management (EnMS) and Sustainable Energy Action Plans according to energy management standards such as ISO50001. The webinar will focus on the implementation of this integrated approach in municipalities that already have a SE(C)AP already in place: what to consider, tips and tools, who to involve, and international good practices.

Lesson lesson learned and experiences form across Europe and the United States will be shared and discussed by experts.

Municipalities, Regional Authorities, Covenant of Mayors Supporters and Coordinators, energy agencies, public and private stakeholders are invited to participate in this online webinar.

Workshop

Setting the standard: Energy Management for Sustainable Action Plans

Breakfast meeting

Brussels, Belgium
House of North and Central Denmark - Avenue de Tervuren 35, 1040 Brussels, Belgium
International Standards can encourage the development and implementation of holistic and integrated approaches to sustainable development and sustainability.

ISO50001 and other energy management standards can facilitate municipalities’ efforts to use energy more efficiently in all sectors. These standards lay out how to establish, implement, maintain and improve an EnMS, enabling an organisation to improve energy performance in the areas of efficiency, security, and consumption. It supports organisations to reduce their energy use, energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions while improving environmental management.

How do standards facilitate the achievement of sustainable development, taking into account smartness and resilience, through the development of requirements, frameworks, guidance and supporting techniques and tools?

How can standards help to demonstrate the effective implementation of SEAPs and engage the local community, allowing local Authorities to improve their understanding of collective energy needs and communicate better on the environment and energy efficiency?

How can standards help in defining performance indicators to monitor the process and results and improve energy management?
